How Much Polymer or Bentonite Do I Need for a Bored Pile? Slurry Volume Calculator

Use geometry to calculate theoretical excavation volume, then apply the approved project dosage. A calculator can calculate quantity; it cannot select the correct dosage.

Cylindrical pile volume

V = πD²L / 4 = 0.7854 × D² × L, with D and L in metres.

Diameter in millimetres

V (m³) = 0.0000007854 × D(mm)² × L(m).

Multiple diameters

For stepped shafts or rock sockets, calculate each cylinder separately and sum them. Do not average diameters because volume is proportional to D².

Product quantity

ALKABEN kg = slurry m³ × approved kg/m³. POLYWELL kg = slurry m³ × approved kg/m³. DRILL-WELL L = slurry m³ × approved L/m³.

Project demand

Theoretical bore volume is not total project consumption. Add surface-system inventory, reserve and expected losses separately, avoiding double-counting.

Consumption ratio

Fresh slurry prepared ÷ theoretical excavation volume is a useful project KPI for comparing support-fluid efficiency.

Calculate from the qualified treatment rate

Use the selected product treatment from trial/project procedure; do not let the calculator invent it.
