Diaphragm Wall Bentonite Slurry: Mixing, Desanding, Reuse and Replacement
A diaphragm-wall bentonite programme is a continuous process: prepare clean slurry, support the excavation, receive contaminated slurry, separate solids, test, reuse or replace.
Preparation
Check make-up water, condition only where justified, disperse ALKABEN under effective mixing and allow qualified hydration before testing.
Working contamination
Track density, Marsh and sand through excavation. High sand identifies coarse material; high density after sand removal shows fine solids remain.
Treatment plant
Screens and hydrocyclones address larger particles; desilters extend toward finer sizes. In projects generating large quantities of very fine material, centrifugation or replacement can become more economic.
Reuse
Reuse by measured quality, not panel count. A reused fluid may be suitable for further excavation but still require further cleaning or exchange before concrete.
Replacement
Stop reprocessing when density/viscosity no longer improve meaningfully or recovery costs exceed fresh-slurry replacement. Keep clean, working, dirty and reject streams separate where possible.
ALKABEN treatment system
Bentonite quality, water, separation equipment and reuse control form one support-fluid system.
