CALCIUM CARBONATE is used as a plugging material for loss circulation into the formation and is completely soluble in HCl acid. Due to this property, calcium carbonate can be used in all types of drilling muds both as a weighting agent and as a lost circulation material when drilling through production zones. It is also known as calcite.
